—-To Reconstruct Eteo Market, Onne Civic Centre, Barricade Rehabilitate Nchia main market Market Road, & Eleme Motor Park.
The Executive Chairman of Eleme LGA, Chief Hon. Obarilo mate Ollor has immediately swung into action three weeks after he was sworn into office to fulfil campaign promises made to the people of Eleme local government. The Chairman who took Engineers on an assessment tour of projects mapped out for execution within his first six months in office also gave an ultimatum of 5days to owners of illegal structures, shades and batchers at the Nchia main market (Etchieta Nchia) and Eleme motor park to vacate on or before 10th July or risk demolition. More so, were those whose buildings and structures are situated under the national grid/high tension wire and drainages to yield or face demolition. According to the Council Boss, this will enable the contractor to carry out rehabilitation work at the Nchia Motor park to befit the status of Eleme local government, fix solar-powered street lights to aid security at night, barricade the market and fix all bad spots on the market road for smooth vehicular and human movement.
Just as we promised our people during our inauguration that we are going to beautify our market here in Nchia, we have a lot of Shanties, batchers and illegal structures littered all over this place and it doesn’t give us a good representation. So what we want to do is to take out all these illegal structures and build a demarcation so that the traders will not be selling along the road.
“For the aspect of the motor park, if you look, you will see that we virtually don’t have a motor park any more because it has been covered by illegal structures. So we want to reconstruct our motor park, redesign it and give it a modern and good look and then bring those who are loading along the road back into the park because what the market people have done here doesn’t actually give us a good representation of who the Eleme people are. “We will put solar light at this roundabout and bring order and decency within this environment. The area of the road that is bad, we will also see how we can work it out. What we are doing is showing the Engineers who we intend to use for this project what exactly we want them to do
“We have given the people who are occupants of these structures three weeks already and the three weeks expire on the 8th of this month and by the 10th, the demolition starts effectively. We want them to move to the main market because the market stores are empty but they are all selling along the road”.
At Eteo market, Hon. Obarlomate said. “We have come to the Eteo market, Eteo is one of the wards in Eleme, Ward 6 and you will recall that during our campaign we promised them that we were going to reconstruct the Eteo market, now we have come to evaluate the work that is supposed to be done here so that our Engineers can go back and do the proper costing so that we can come back to the site and work. “What we are expected to do here is to reconstruct the market, give them portable water and ensure that their lavatories are put in place and that will be done as promised by the grace of God; we are looking at the first 6 months of this our tenure”, he added.
The Chairman and his team also visited the Onne community where the Engineer assessed the uncompleted Onne Civic Centre for onward construction.
In a brief chat with the Engineer, Reason Chidi of Reason Engineering and Construction, he said the people of Eleme should expect an excellent job and promised to complete the projects at the time stipulated. The assessment tout was wrapped up at a vandalized modern market built at Onne by Intels Nig but was not put to use.
