PHED to Improve Power Supply as Chief Ollor Calls for Immediate Reconnection of Onne Power Line:
– Warns Against Harassment and Intimidation Of PHED Staff.
– Carries out Remedial Work on Ebubu axes of Old Portharcourt-Bori Road Linking Eteo.
The Executive Chairman of Eleme LGA Chief Hon. Obarilomate Ollor has called for the immediate reconnection of the Onne Community to the National grid following a recent fracas that happened between some irate youths of the Onne community and the management of PHED which led to the assault of staff of PHED as the total disconnection of Onne ensued. Chief Ollor who frowned at the uncivil approach applied by the youths demanded that an unreserved apology be tendered to PHED in writing and warned against such an act.
Ollor assured PHED of his administration’s commitment to partner with them to ensure improved power supply in Onne and Eleme by extension while promising to add one million naira (N1,000,000) to the monthly two million naira (N2,000,000) paid directly into the account of PHED by the Local Government Council making it three million naira (N3,000,000) monthly. The said sum according to the Chairman is to complement the shortcomings in the payment of monthly bills. The Council Chairman further charged the people of Eleme to endeavour to pay their electricity bill when due as his administration is currently exploring a more permanent solution to the lingering issue of power supply within Eleme LGA.
In the same vein, The Council Chairman in Partnership with Setraco Nigeria Limited has commenced remedial work on the Ebubu axes of the old Portharcourt-Bori road linking the Eteo Community.
The road which has remained impassible for over 8 years following its total breakdown within School-to-land and Winners Chapel, Ochani, Ebubu is currently undergoing remedial works as commuters coming from other neighbouring LGA and Eteo Community can now use the new access as a bypass from the ever busy East-West Road, mostly as construction work will soon commence on the east-west road. Chief Ollor further noted that the Local Government Council will do all within its powers this year to ensure bad spots within the “One man country and Agbeta junction in Ebubu” community are given permanent attention.
According to the council Chairman, if such internal roads are given the required attention, Ebubu will be open to more development as visitors and commuters travelling to Bori, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers State and beyond will find it easier routing Ebubu to their destination.
Signed.
